Because I’m Happy

248-lala_styled_11-13-14

There is something about this time of year that brings a smile to my face; the smell of fresh balsam that fills the air, the jingly Christmas music playing in the background, and the smiles of friends and families as they reunite for the holidays. Of course, the cooler temperatures are a huge plus for this Florida gal; I finally get to wear fall fashions! It is the most wonderful time of the year. And that makes me happy.

263-lala_styled_11-13-14

Comfy sweaters and plaid are a mainstay in my closet for when that first cold front moves through. How cute is this sweater by Sundry? The Sundry clothing line has a California-cool vibe with soft, wearable, snuggle-worthy fabric. It’s enough to make you happy.

256-lala_styled_11-13-14 268-lala_styled_11-13-14

I paired it with my go-to plaid shirt line: Rails LA. Who knew a plaid shirt could be so soft and so uber-cool?! I have at least 5 plaid tops by Rails, and I get compliments on them everywhere I go. The added bonus is the comfort factor. The tops are so soft you’ll want to live in them.  This particular style has a different print when you roll the sleeves…LOVE!

267-lala_styled_11-13-14

And speaking of comfort, if you haven’t tried on a pair of DL1961 denim, you are missing out. With it’s patented technology to “never bag or sag,” these jeans are a MUST in every woman’s closet. They’re comfy like leggings and they won’t stretch out (we’ve all had that happen- it looks like you could fit an extra person in your denim by the end of the day). Here, I’m wearing the Emma style which has a 29″ inseam (perfect for us shorter gals or anyone who wants a shorter fit).

226-lala_styled_11-13-14

The comfort doesn’t end at the denim. I pulled my “few-seasons-back” riding boots by Nine West and the leather was so soft…talk about comfy! To me, this was the perfect pairing for this preppy fall look.

Mexico, I Love You

DSC_0308DSC_0224

Traveling: my second love. My husband and I have been lucky enough to do a lot of traveling over the years, and one of our favorite destinations is Mexico. We have seen and explored many parts of this beautiful country; from Mexico City to La Paz to our latest vacation destination: Puerto Vallarta.

DSC_0417

Despite the 90 degree weather and ultra intense humidity (that’s saying a lot from this Florida gal), we were able to enjoy all that this coastal town had to offer. We wandered through Zona Romantica (the Romantic Zone) and the Malecón where the streets were filled with the aroma of Mexican spices and local vendors setting up their shops. I got a lot of looks and compliments on my sandals 🙂

DSC_0295

Stopping for a refreshing Michelada (beer and lime juice with spices), we realized that we were some of the only Americans in town. Puerto Vallarta is where the Mexican people  come to vacation.

My husband and I have never been “resort” type of people…always choosing to stay more in more rustic places. Don’t get me wrong, I love a 5-star hotel, but when we have the chance, we prefer to be a little bit more off-the-beaten-path. A bit more authentic 🙂

We stayed in a beautiful Villa, and score…it was very inexpensive and we had a wonderful local woman cook for us. Waking up every morning to freshly made chilaquiles and guacamole could make a girl stay here forever. By far my favorite part of the villa was the pool and the view overlooking the Bay of Banderas. It was breathtaking to say the least.

I enjoyed putting outfits together for this trip; there were a few things I wanted to wear but couldn’t due to the extremely hot temperatures.

All in all, we truly enjoyed our stay in Puerto Vallarta. Hasta la próxima, México!

Faux Fur Fix

DSC_0155

Faux fur…I own way too many pieces of it for a Florida girl. Coats, vests, stoles…you name it…I’ve got it. You could call it a borderline obsession. People up North might poke a little fun at us Southerners; we wear our faux fur when the mercury drops below 70.

No brand makes tops quite like Rails LA. Known for their soft, comfortable fabric, Rails really hits the mark on the classic button-down. I love the print mixing on the rolled cuff of the sleeve. I chose a cranberry colored plaid for this outfit; I love anything burgundy for fall!

DSC_0131

Leather pants are a huge trend this season, but if you can’t afford leather, opt for a coated denim. It’s a similar style with an easier price point. These amazing stiletto skinnies are by Current/Elliott. Trend alert: look for a pair that has zip detail on the bottom.

DSC_0129

To complete the look, I added a neutral Rebecca Minkoff bag (my absolute FAVORITE bag of the moment), navy panama hat, stiletto heels, Chloe sunnies and a gorgeous Ted Rossi cuff.

Made in the USA

As we transition from summer to fall here in South Florida, I’ll soon be retiring the shorts for jeans, but for now I’m loving all shorts by One Teaspoon. I can’t get enough! There are no other shorts like them; they have distressed detailing and a super sexy fit that shows off a bit of leg.

351-lala-styled-7-22-14

Booties with shorts create a great street style look. These Sam Edelmann moto booties remind me of the Chloe Suzanna Stud Bootie (minus the studs and the price tag.) Bonus: they are ridiculously comfortable.

269-lala-styled-7-22-14

One of my favorite brands of graphic tees is Chaser. Their fabric is super soft and their graphics are uber cool. I happen to LOVE the “Made in the USA” eagle tank because it’s a little bit rock-n-roll.My accessories are from various places. I usually lean toward wearing more gold, but I loved silver with this outfit; it also brings out the silver detailing on the boots. I added one of my favorite floppy hats to complete the look.

264-lala-styled-7-22-14

My dear friend and photographer, Kristin Potenti and I had a really fun time shooting in this location. Of course I had to take a photo with the “No Trespassing” sign. A bit mischievous, I know 🙂

We also happened to catch the train as it was going by…

Off the Beaten Track

web-199-lala-styled-7-22-14

If there’s one thing I love most about an outfit, it has to be the way it makes me feel. Boho is one of my favorite styles; perhaps it’s because I’m a little hippie on the inside 🙂

web-206-lala-styled-7-22-14

Boho style truly embodies the “free spirit” nature, and I felt this outfit captured that side of my personality…perfectly.

Her Royal Catness

web-080-lala-styled-7-22-14

Royal blue- one of my all-time favorite colors. It’s a shade that is flattering on every skin tone. I mixed up the look by adding a touch of leopard and leather (it’s vegan leather.)

web-133-lala-styled-7-22-14

This leopard top comes from one of my favorite emerging designers, Brittany Rose Collections. Check out her website here.

A simple black heel with an ankle strap adds sex appeal. I am loving the new line by Schutz! Top it off with a leather talon cuff by Ted Rossi (my favorite and most-worn accessory) and you’ve got yourself the perfect nighttime outfit.

Lime, Stripes and Sneaks

 web-pc-007-lala-styled-7-22-14

web-pc-023-lala-styled-7-22-14

How do you make a monochrome print stand out? Add a pop of color! Here, I paired an oldie but goodie Susana Monaco skirt in lime with a black and white striped top from Macy’s.

web-037-lala-styled-7-22-14

web-pc-008-lala-styled-7-22-14

web-057-lala-styled-7-22-14

To keep it casual and sporty-chic, I chose my go-to sneaks: slip-on white converse. These are super comfy and look great with just about anything; everything from dresses to jeans to in-between.

web-pc-064-lala-styled-7-22-14

I completed the look by adding my favorite panama hat and snakeskin leather crossbody bag (it also converts into a clutch.) The turquoise really complements the lime.

web-pc-046-lala-styled-7-22-14

When I was younger, I remember always wanting to wear heels walking around the city, and my mom used to always shake her head and say, “You’re going to regret it!” And I always did. I’m so glad sneakers are back in style! I’ll save the heels for girl’s night out.

Sweet as a Peach

DSC_0091 crop

Colored shorts are a staple for the warm weather here in Florida. I love this color peach; it reminds me of sherbert! I paired it with a pretty floral/lace cami by Ark N Co and my favorite white blazer from Zara.

DSC_0119

I actually styled this with two different handbags. I love the Rebecca Minkoff clutch for a dressier occasion.

DSC_0187

The oversized hobo is a better option for a more casual/daytime look. My heels are by Sam Edelman (obsessing over anything with an ankle strap right now.)

DSC_0191

I loved shooting in this outfit!

All styles are available at my store, with the exception of the blazer, which is sold at out Zara. I found a similar one here at Asos.

White Hot Neutrals

To me, white on white is a classic that is always on trend. It’s simple and sophisticated. Both the top and denim are by Current/Elliott. Their stiletto jean fits so well…it has become one of my favorite denim styles!

cropped-cropped-10325645_10152195240928929_2878612161481221964_n1.jpg

The neutral shoes by Steve Madden and handbag by Rebecca Minkoff keep the outfit in the neutral color palate. Refreshing for these hot summer days!

My cuff is by Ted Rossi, my favorite leather accessory designer. Check out his website at www.tedrossi.com.

A Perfect Match: Pink, Leopard and Chambray

Ah summer…a great reason to wear shorts every day! I found these adorable popsicle pink cuties at the Gap (and they were only $10!) I paired them with one of my staple button-downs…my chambray shirt from Rails LA.

Molly-chambray

Who doesn’t love a little leopard? This Rebecca Minkoff bag from my store pairs perfectly with pink.

.DSC_0007

These Dolce Vita caged wedges are some of the most comfortable (and stylish!) shoes I own. I plan on wearing them all through the summer. They’re great for strolling in the city.

Cat eye shades are the biggest trend in sunglasses right now. Tory Burch hits the mark with these.
