February Faves

Hi all! I’m back after a crazy busy month to share with you my faves for the months of Feb.

anastasia

Shadow Couture World Traveler Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills– Ok, I was standing in Urban Outfitters in Times Square, hemming and hawing over an endless amount of eye shadow options. It was my first shopping outing after having the baby, and I was enticed by all of the shimmery, beautiful colors. A girl next to me picked up the shadow palette I was eyeing and couldn’t stop squealing from excitement that she had found it. “I’ve been looking EVERYWHERE for this!” she cried. Low and behold, it was the World Traveler Palette. Of course, I bought it. Her enthusiasm was so intense, I figured this palette must be the Valentino’s of eye shadow.

She was right- I soon came to find myself experimenting with all of the incredible colors- ranging from light peach to intense blue, and everything in between. The pigment in the shadow is absolutely incredible, and it lasts through many vodka-soda-lime nights.

I paid $39 for the palette and it’s going for over $100 on Ebay, apparently it is a limited edition. If you can get your hands on this shadow palette, it’s totally worth it!

sage spoonfuls_1429120012103_16824241_ver1.0_640_480

Sage Spoonfuls– For all of you mamas out there that intend to make your own baby food, I cannot say enough about Sage Spoonfuls! There is little information for new moms on how to feed your baby solid foods, what foods to try, etc.

I was delighted to receive the SS for my baby shower. Liza Huber created a beautiful book outlining what foods to feed baby as well as when to buy organic. Delicious and easy recipes (and some great unexpected food combos that baby will LOVE), plus awesome food jars that are stackable and so easy to travel with! I love the blender it comes with…it is much easier to use than a regular blender.

This makes a great gift for any mom-to-be! You can buy it at Target.

tsamma-watermelon-juice-high-res

Tsamma Juice– As a runner, I  am always looking for a refreshing juice that is packed with nutrients, tastes great, and keeps me hydrated. I love Tsamma watermelon juice because it fuels my body with electrolytes and there’s no added sugar! Believe it or not, there are over 1 1/2 lbs of watermelon cold-pressed and pasteurized in each bottle. You can buy it at the Fresh Market or online.

Thanks for stopping by the blog! I hope everyone had a wonderful February!

January’s Favorite Things

I am a lover of all things new; new products land at my door each day and I’m like a kid in a candy store. An overly excited guinea pig, if you will. While I’m more of a fashion blogger, I also love to review items and share my FAVES with my followers. Because what gal doesn’t love a good recommendation?

I have lots of favorite things…so I have decided to write a monthly blog post with my latest and greatest obsessions. Be it the latest mommy products (which seem to take up most of my current budget) to new, innovative brands, I’ll be collecting the best of the best and bringing them to you.

One other note- I am a HUGE proponent of small businesses and their products. If you are interested in me reviewing and featuring your product, feel free to reach out to me at lala_styled@mail.com.

kali 4

Kali Boxes– The organic era is upon us, and I am a huge believer in using pesticide free products. I was SO excited when my good friends and entrepreneurs Jonna Piira and Sara Shake came up with the revolutionary idea to create a monthly box of organic tampons. Not only do you receive the monthly box on autoship (and save those embarrassing moments of checking out with a box of those suckers at the grocery), but you also have the peace of mind knowing you are using ORGANIC. And, for an easy $25, you get the ‘pons, wipettes, and a fun product they change every month or so. This month it’s a gorgeous rosewater refresher spray. Kali is also socially conscience and donates $1 from every box sold to  Girl Up, the United Nations Foundation’s Adolescent Girl Campaign. How amazing is that?! Ladies, do your body a favor and sign up here. You’ll get $5 off your first box with code “ilovekali”.

coco

COCO Cocktail– If you LOVE coconut water like me and if you love an adult beverage like me, you will love that they have combined the two into a perfect tropical concoction. Meet COCO Cocktail, your new refreshing party favorite! It’s a convenient ready-to-drink beverage that offers only the highest quality ingredients. So rest assured, while you get a buzz, you’re also hydrating! COCO Cocktail is available at select WHOLE FOODS and Fresh Markets. For more information, check out their website.

joovy

The JOOVY SPOONAs a new mommy of a 7 month old spirited little boy, I was looking for the perfect walker. Not only does my little tot LOVE to move, but we are also very big into traveling and wanted something we could easily take with us. We were on a New Year’s trip to visit good friends when I discovered the JOOVY. It’s got a super sleek, modern design, and it’s easily foldable (and adjustable for height). But the best part is, it also doubles as a highchair! Easy storage, easy cleaning, and double functions make it a win-win for this traveling mama. BONUS: the padded seat is easily machine washable and this was a cinch to put together (much needed for this working mama!). Check out Joovy’s website here.

I hope you enjoyed this month’s favorite things! Stay tuned for February!

Something Old, Something New: Baby J’s Room

DSC_0017DSC_0044 DSC_0042 DSC_0041 DSC_0040 DSC_0038 DSC_0015 DSC_0016  DSC_0030 DSC_0034 DSC_0010

If I hadn’t gotten into the fashion industry, I would have loved to have pursued a career in interiors/home design. I absolutely LOVE design and decorating. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I began designing the nursery. I knew right away I wanted something contemporary, but with a mixture of different design elements, textures and neutral colors. I wanted a high-end looking nursery but on a budget.

Bring on Pinterest! I created numerous boards and poured over hundreds of photos on my Houzz app. Which was perfect for those sleepless pregnancy nights. I came across the adorable animal print photos from the Animal Print Shop and decided on a “baby animal” theme.

The next decision was furniture. I already had a beautiful natural wood daybed that folds out into a full size bed. It’s great for when guests come over, as it provides extra seating, as well as an extra place for guests (or mom!) to sleep. I also had an ivory dresser from Crate and Barrel that was not being used, and that fit perfectly into the nursery’s theme. I originally wanted all white furniture, but decided to use items I already had instead of sell them. Since the dresser is ivory, I knew a white crib would not look right. I chose the Childcraft Logan Convertible Crib in espresso, because I thought the dark wood would contrast nicely with the pops of gray (bonus- it was only $200 and converts to a toddler bed and a full size bed for when Jake gets older!) We chose the Kelcie glider from walmart.com. It was a bargain, easy to clean and is so comfy! Very happy with this purchase!

The adorable cat chair and bookcase were both purchases I made in college. My mom and I had gone “antiquing” in Havana, FL and stumbled across those adorable pieces. I’ve had them for over 18  years and they fit perfectly in the nursery.

I wanted to keep the colors neutral- mostly grays, taupes, soft blues, espresso,  ivory, silver with a bright pop of chartreuse. To me, this was soothing and comforting for both the baby and me. I love mixing textures and prints.

For the bedding, I registered at Pottery Barn Kids. This is the Harper nursery bedding. I love the chevron print and think it looks super cute in the room. I plan on taking the bumpers out (for safety reasons) until Jake is older, but for now, we are using the crib as a changing area so it is perfectly safe. The mobile with the adorable animals is also from Pottery Barn Kids.

My sister and her boyfriend came into town to help me put the nursery together. We decided to paint the walls gray (they were tan before) and I love the color we chose – Silver Bullet by Behr. Next on our list was to pick out the accessories.

We found the perfect frames for our animal prints from Bed, Bath & Beyond. We also needed blackout curtains and loved the textured ones we found. Now it was off to Target and HomeGoods! At HomeGoods I found the lighted “J” as well as the hassock, giraffe on the dresser, cute zebra and the worded throw pillows. It was all starting to come together!

Our last stop was Target. I could not believe our luck as we found our remaining items! The chartreuse stand, mod lamp, the printed rug, and the remaining throw pillows could not have been more perfect!
